C is for cookie ... Is good enough for me?

And in New York, city helth department asks restaurants to ban trans fats.

In related news, public health groups have urged the children's program Sesame Street to show the consequences of a diet high in trans fats. "At this point, after eating so many cookies for over 30 years, the cookie monster would likely be suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure, and may have allready suffered several heart attacks."

Okay, so I made up that last part. But why does it sound so real?

It doesn't sound real. It sounds made up. New York asking that restaurants voluntarily switch to a healthier method of cooking is not over the top and it's not ridiculous. The cookie monster is a puppet. He doesn't even depict a real animal, he is a blue monster. No person eats just cookies. Only a blue puppet on a kids show.

You have to admit, a request from the government has a little more force to it than a request from a private individual.

And by the way, it was a year or so ago that Sesame Street, in response to pressure from public interest groups changed the cookie monster's song from "C is for Cookie" to "A cookie is a sometimes snack."
